Studio Marathon

EARLIER THIS MONTH WE HAD A LITTLE STUDIO MARATHON

It was just 30 minute slots to shoot portraits for whatever people needed- headshots, creative branding, lifestyle promo, etc. Cameron (pictured first) was looking for a few professional headshots and also a few more casual- but still chic- promotional photos for his new side hustle. Drasko (pictured second) was in and out only needing a few photos for his LinkedIn profile, and lastly, Szymon was looking for the same as Drasko but also with a few “workout stretching” photos to kick start his new personal training business.

We obviously couldn’t leave out Rex- who was arguably the best looking of the bunch?- because we are obsessed!

We can’t thank these guys enough for coming out, it was an incredibly fun studio day that kept us on our toes all day long! We’ll hopefully be planning another marathon for sometime in the summer so if you’re interested shoot us a message here.

HOST Clothing

IS THERE ANYTHING BETTER THAN WORKING WITH YOUR FRIENDS?

Definitely not! Our good friend Al started a little clothing company called Host a while ago and has been building up his collection with a few statement pieces as he prepares to launch. When he asked us to shoot we were super excited but also the first to admit that product isn’t our most favourite thing to do. Fortunately for us, Al was just looking for a few clean and bright product shots on white to showcase what each item is, which was something simple and straightforward that we could get on board with.

We tried a few different variations with each piece- overhead static shots, hanging, and even a few with Al in frame holding the hanger, or even when he was styling (our personal faves).

We started with our usual set up- a single umbrella and flash- but quickly realized that soft shadows weren’t going to work well for this shoot. We switched to shooting with just an external high powered flash for that bright and gritty look with harsh lines and dark shadows.

See more from the shoot below and follow HOST here to keep an eye out for their launch!

Camila & Rayne Test

A FUN LITTLE TEST WITH CAMILA & RAYNE

There was no particular direction for this shoot other than ‘let’s keep it simple’. 1 hair and make up artist, 1 stylist, and myself in studio with each model. There was a small overlap just before Camila left and when Rayne arrived so we decided to shoot them together! This test was one of the first each of them have ever done, and I’m so happy with how they rocked it!

Studio Test with Theo & Justine

AS THE YEAR WAS WINDING DOWN, WE DECIDED TO END IT ON A HIGH NOTE WITH THIS SHOOT…

Would you be surprised to find out that despite shooting together officially for the last 2 years and unofficially for 2 before that we haven’t shot any personal work together?! We’ve always talked about planning a personal shoot/test but it kept falling between the cracks and getting put on the back burner. When we went into 2018 we were adamant that it was going to happen, but then somehow December came around the corner and we were like what happened?!

Our December ended up being quieter than usual so we took advantage of our down time and invited Theo & Justine to come hang out with us at a studio and shoot the shit. We had an informal, casual, talk-more-than-we-shoot, shoot with them and it was a ton of fun! I can’t remember the last time either of us shot like this- probably back in school? It was the perfect way to end off our year, we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!
