University College Revitalization Project

It has been so exciting exploring this new avenue of photography! In school we took an architecture course and while Ethan enjoyed it, I (Stef) did not necessarily find it to be my calling haha. The more we balance our time between editorial work and weddings the more I begin to love the stress of a high pressure day; when things are moving quickly, when you get so few chances to get things right, when you have to know how to improvise; high risk high reward you know. And interior / architecture photography is not quite that; it is a lot of patience and making small, intentional, adjustments along the way.

I wouldn’t consider ourselves full-fledged interior photographers but when the opportunity came up to photograph the newly revitalized spaces at University College we couldn’t say no. The spaces themselves are beautiful and having worked with the University of Toronto many times before we know we’re in good company.

Branding Session with Rebecca Hay Designs

we love lifestyle photos and we love repeat clients!

Learning about a brand / company for 1 shoot is an easy task but learning about a brand, the people behind it, and their ethos after multiple shoots is a different task, and one we really love. The more we get to know Rebecca and her team the better idea we get about who she is as a mompreneur, what her company is all about, and the types of imagery that best speak to both her, her brand, and her audience. Every time we shoot it feels like things get easier and our photos get better, and this session (like our others) is no exception!

We met up at one of her recent projects in Oakville where we focused more on ‘working’ photos than usual. For Rebecca this means planning in her notebook, keeping up on social media, staging the house, and having her own time at home reading, going for a run, and doing mom things like cleaning up. All the things, and photos, that really speak to her and her company.

Branding Session with Happiness Is Sweet

THINGS WE LOVE: SHOOTING & BEING IN COTTAGE COUNTRY

So when Lauren- of Happiness is Sweet- invited us up to her cottage to shoot some branding photos, how could we not be excited?!

Lauren wanted to shoot some lifestyle photos of her and her fiancé (as he’s often her second hand in the kitchen) baking together, some individual photos of her sweets (she spent the weekend baking up a storm!) and she even created a sweets table that we set up outside by the water. The best part of everything? She so kindly sent us home with a box of goodies, which we may or may not have scarfed down on our drive from her cottage to Ethans!

Lauren’s cottage was bright as a cottage can be but the kitchen unforatuntely wasn’t as bright as everywhere else. As always Ethan and I rotated between shooting with and without flash so Lauren could have clean, crisp photos, and grainy, soft, moodier photos.

Lauren was such a trooper and had everything prepared for us when we arrived; kitchen cleared, everything baked, and she knew what she wanted to do so it was easy to shoot! We rotated between doing portraits/”baking” (faux baking) photos and still life photos so we could maximize our time together and shoot as much as possible!

Considering how fun this shoot was and all of the goodies we got to leave with, let’s just say we’d love to do this again ;)
